Join us for an exclusive masterclass with Lucy Pardee, the BAFTA-winning British casting director renowned for her innovative approach to casting and talent discovery. Since beginning her career in 2004, Pardee has been drawn to untold stories and individuals who might not otherwise be seen, combining community-facing work with traditional casting methods to create fresh perspectives.

Her notable collaborations include working with director Andrea Arnold on films such as Wuthering Heights, American Honey, and the upcoming Bird. Pardee's expertise in street casting has been instrumental in projects like Sarah Gavron's Rocks, for which she won a BAFTA and a BIFA, and Charlotte Wells' Aftersun, which earned her another BAFTA nomination.

In this masterclass, Pardee will share her insights into the casting process, from discovering non-professional performers to collaborating with directors and nurturing new talent. This is a unique opportunity to learn from one of the industry's leading casting directors and gain a deeper understanding of how authentic and compelling casts are assembled.

Additionally, Lucy Pardee will personally introduce the Czech premiere of Bird by Andrea Arnold at the 32nd Days of European Film festival on April 4 at 7:30 PM in Cinema Světozor.

The pub quiz about European cinema will test your memory and observation - from cult classics to current hits. One part of the questions will also be dedicated to the visionary filmmaker Michel Gondry, whose retrospective the festival presents this year. So if you know his dream worlds, you have an advantage! This year, the pub quiz will be held at Bio Central in Hradec Králové, the Metro 70 cinema in Prostějov, and the Panorama cinema in Boskovice.

This year, the festival pays tribute to one of the most distinctive voices of contemporary Italian cinema – Paolo Sorrentino. His films blend elegance, melancholy and irony, capturing the beauty and emptiness of the modern world through a striking visual style. The tribute section will present a selection of his most celebrated works, including the Academy Award-winning The Great Beauty, the intimate drama Youth, and the gripping political portrait Il Divo. Sorrentino’s cinema moves between dazzling visual spectacle and a sensitive exploration of loneliness, desire and the passing of time, securing his place among the leading figures of contemporary European filmmaking.

Come with your children to the festival, you will be rewarded not only with a beautiful film experience, but both smaller and bigger children can learn a bit of film craft and maybe one day they will grow up to be skilled filmmakers. After the screenings of Flow and Living Large, together with our partners we have prepared filmmaking workshops for children. Of course, there is also a discounted admission fee.

Even though the actors of LIVING LARGE are not flesh and blood, they are lifelike! Join us after the screening to create your own heroes for the animated film. It won't be difficult and you can soon be thinking up the plot of your future film! The workshop is designed for children aged 6 to 14 years, for younger children (under 10 years) we recommend parental assistance.

Those who dream of being able to fly, of their favourite toys coming to life and dressing themselves up can make their dreams come true with the pixelation animation technique after the screening of FLOW. Every movement is photographed, and when the film starts, things and people come to life in a completely different way than in reality. Pixilation is a very fast and simple animation technique. If you don't want to get into drawing and you're not confident in painting, pixilation is for you. All you need is good ideas.

We invite you to a discussion after the film A Cat's Odyssey, a visually impressive animated story about journey, cooperation and survival in a changing world. This film raises questions about man's relationship with nature, the need for respect for all living beings and the necessity to adapt to changing conditions. What role do we play in nature and animals? How is climate change affecting life on Earth, and how can we help protect nature and animal rights? How will the planned changes to European Union legislation help improve developments? The moderator of the discussion will be Sabina Vosecká, and guests will include climatologist and biodiversity expert David Storch and representatives of the organization Hlas zvířat, Tereza and Robert Plicka.

The screening and discussion are held in cooperation with the Office of the European Parliament in the Czech Republic, and admission is free, just like the film.

Marco, the Fabled Truth (Spain) is a drama inspired by the true story of Enrico Marco (Eduard Fernández), who claimed all his life that he survived a concentration camp. However, his carefully constructed image of a hero begins to crumble when an unyielding journalist becomes interested in his past. When Autumn Comes (France) is a drama by the legendary director Francois Ozon, which takes us to a Burgundian village, where complicated family relationships become strained after the return of an unworthy son from prison. Ludivine Sagnier, Josiane Balasko, and Hélène Vincent excel in leading roles. The Swiss comedy Accused: A Dog watches the first dog trial in history. Come and enjoy the great festival atmosphere!

Every year, the European Film Days Festival prepares an interesting offer of special school screenings with an educational program. We offer schools and individual classes the opportunity to participate in a film screening focused on quality European cinematography, which we connect with professional and inspiring education. This year's program focuses on mental health, healthy lifestyle and nutrition, and topics related to World War II.

All films will be shown in their original language. This allows students to develop their language skills (e.g. German or Spanish) by watching quality films in their original language with or without Czech subtitles, you can choose.

On the following pages, you will find the films offered and the topics of the accompanying program. It is possible to order a movie without an accompanying program. If the screening date does not suit you, please contact us, and we can try to prepare a program for another day.

Admission to the film is 120 CZK per student / 150 CZK, including the accompanying program (unless otherwise stated in the program), and accompanying teachers are admitted free of charge.

Screenings can be booked for April and can be held in all festival cities.
