DEF in pictures - day 3

April 5, 2025

Film Friday at DEF 2025: Cats, Wings and Gondry to the end.

On Friday, the Days of European Film hosted an evening full of strong themes, personalities and visual experiences.

Cat Odyssey + discussion at Edison

The screening of the visually impressive Cat Odyssey was complemented by a discussion about man's relationship with nature, climate change and animal rights. Guests David Storch and Tereza and Robert Plick, along with the evening's moderator Sabina Vosecká, opened up important topics in a clear and non-moral way. They also gave specific examples of legislative changes that can contribute to protecting the life around us.

Birds + personal screening at Světozor

Casting director Lucy Pardee and British Ambassador to the Czech Republic Matt Field arrived at Světozor for the Czech premiere of Andrea Arnold's new film Birds. The touching film about adolescence, family and the search for freedom left a deep impression, and Pardee, during the introduction, described the process of finding authentic acting performances that carry the film.

Mental Hygiene with Aleš Stuchlý: Gondry and the Party

The late evening belonged to the traditional healing block Mental Hygiene with Aleš Stuchlý. This time, the program included video clips by Michel Gondry — poetic, playful and melancholic. Film historian Martin Hrnčíř provided expert insight, and the evening was rounded off with a DJ party that transformed the film experience into a dance mood.
