On Tuesday, April 9, we ceremoniously concluded the thirty-first year of the European Film Festival again in the comfort and hospitality of Prague's Přítomnost. At the same time, the juries of both categories announced their verdicts. They presented the prizes for the best films: Without Air by Hungarian director Katalin Moldovai and Tiger in Paradise by Swedish director Mikel Cee Karlsson.
The traditional glass cylinder with a symbolic first notch for the most promising debut from judge Ivo Andrle was taken over by the lead actress Ágnes Krasznahorkai. David Žbirka presented the award with grooves reminiscent of the first sound recordings on phonograph cylinders. Still, due to the absence of the creators of the musical biography of the singer-songwriter José González, he also took it into temporary custody.
The ceremony, moderated by Lukáš Rumlena, was closed by Šimon Šafránek, the dramaturg, and Barbora Golatová, the festival director, after which we watched the adventure film about the love of Chimera, and the evening ended with informal entertainment.
