2011 is the third straight year of turmoil in the Arab world.
In major cities throughout the Middle East and North Africa, young people are demanding more rights and a change to the current system. But who are these young people? What is it like to be them, what are their hopes for the future of their country? Young artists from all over the Middle East help explain this generation’s dreams, conflicts and circumstances. These artists represent a new generation of Arabs who move seamlessly between cultures, political environments and influences; they incorporate into their work the conflicts they face in their personal and professional lives. As a group, they are a notably progressive and cognizant underground culture, growing more pronounced in all the larger cities of the Middle East, one of the most remarkable cultural regions of the world.
